Bluemont Safeway Task Force

Who we are and what we’re doing . . .

The Safeway Task Force was formed by the BCA in response to Safeway’s recent issuance of a Request for Proposals to redevelop its 5101 Wilson Boulevard site.  As outlined in its Charter, the Task Force seeks to ensure that the Bluemont community is able to shape any future change that occurs at the Safeway site and to address the need for education, inclusiveness and dialogue with respect to the site plan process.  The Task Force’s Charter is scheduled to end on November 1st.

December 10th Town Hall Meeting

On December 10th, the Task Force lead its second Town Hall meeting related to possible re-development of the Wilson Boulevard Safeway property.  See the below link for a summary of the meeting.

New  Task Force Charter

The BCA approved a new Task Force Charter at its November 14th general membership meeting.  The new Charter authorizes the Task Force to work with the Bluemont neighborhood to develop broadly-held positions on issues related to Safeway re-development so that the BCA and the Task Force can best represent Bluemont before Arlington County officials.
